| Ask the Experts a Question about Watch Faces. | |
|
Ever since purchasing my current watch eight years ago, I've been mystified by a particular feature it contains. Around the face is a gold ring that rotates. It makes a ratcheting sound when being rotated, and can only be spun in one direction (counter-clockwise). On the rotating ring are marked the numbers 5 through 60 in intervals of five (Obviously something to do with minutes or seconds). In addition, the rotating ring also has the four intermediate compass directions (NE, SE, SW, NW) marked on it. Between the rotating ring and the watch face is a second smaller ring with the numbers 30-330 in intervals of sixty (Something to do with degrees my guess). This smaller ring cannot be rotated.
Now, even though I can kinda guess at what the markings indicate...I still cannot figure out how they are combined into a useful function. What is the purpose of this mysterious rotating ring and the markings on it? I bought it at a garage sale, so I don't have the instruction book to help me.

It only takes 7 or 8 seconds in the microwave oven for toaster pastries like Pop-Tarts™ to get really hot, but takes everything else signficantly longer to get warm. Why?
These are normally true for every toaster pastry, however, this question is centered around the Brown Sugar and Cinnamon variety.
Thanks to all for the answers!

I bought an entertainment center and a tv 2 1/2 years ago. I noticed about 10 months ago a small piece of wood with support screws on the one inside corner (just under the platform holding the tv) is cracked. I had a repair guy come out to fix a piece of the entertainment center (warranty at the time woo hoo...) and he said that the broken piece of wood was obsolete and he didn't seem worried about it. Well, fast forward to last night, I heard a "crack" and noticed the screw WENT THROUGH the side of the entertainment center!!! I got nervous and took down the TV for the moment. I have them coming to fix the side where the screw busted through.
My 36" tv weighs 215 lbs. The furniture store is now saying it can hold 40" and 150-200 lbs (he estimated - originally they said 40" and 225 lbs). So technically I am like 15 lbs above.
HERE IS MY QUESTION: Is there any way I can build extra support (extra wood in the spaces under the platform part holding the TV, where the screw is with the broken little wood) and keep my TV on it still? I mean, I had it on there for 2 1/2 years the way it was and nothing catostrophic occurred.
I don't feel like spending extra money on a tv right now and I really like this entertainment center we have. I hope it is possible to keep both. Thanks in advance.
